Re: Rock - what are you listening to?

Giving this a listen with an open mind. https://i.imgur.com/dTg02c0.png Roon is showing a track gain of -16.9dB so there is not much dynamic range available which rarely presdipsoses me an album. On first listen it certainly isn’t execrable and has a certain charm. .sjb Must say I was impressed wit...

Re: Rock - what are you listening to?

Never really got into Traffic as the lights were always red :) Very good lol! Though I clearly remember when when I first got Lizard and, incidentally, Ege Bamayasi as well. I was horrified when I listened at home. No recognisable guitar solos on either albums. Avant Garde jazz on Lizard. WTF!!!! W...

Would you know if it is better to burn albums to a single file for home-based digital players or create discrete track files with a playlist - .cue or M3U which a player can recognise?

Re: Rock - what are you listening to?

BTW it's taken me nearly 40 years to finally appreciate/get Lizard. As I said they're never boring....... So my parallel universe was okay then, I appreciated/got Traffic straight away! That's like comparing Val Doonican to Stravinski lol! https://images.eil.com/large_image/TRAFFIC_JOHN%2BBARLEYCOR...

Re: Rock - what are you listening to?

Very nice selection Cybot - I prefer their earliest stuff too and feel they began to slip a bit in the mid 70s, starting on Larks's and Red (though they are still good albums), when it appears that Fripp gave up playing acoustic guitar and started to get into a more dissonant sound with borderline ...

Thanks jrling - do you use WAV for editing or some sort of pro audio purpose?

CD rippers/file converters

I downloaded an audio file converter and CD ripper called FRE:AC the other day which allows the user to convert from virtually any file format to any other file format: https://www.freac.org/ - an upgrade to the software was introduced a few weeks back. "fre:ac is a free audio converter and CD ...

Re: Rock - what are you listening to?

http://rockaxis.com/sites/default/files/styles/colorbox/public/node/discos/imagen/89338_0.jpg?itok=Iib0jCWA Very good live album of King Crimson's mid to late 90s double-trio line-up. The album is better than the official bootleg B'Boom, which represented early live performances. However, disc two ...
