Re: Bring Back the Edison (sic) wax (sic) cylinder!
As a kid I used to delight in making everyone sound like a chipmunk by playing at 78 and then like The Incredible Hulk (it was the 80s, I was a fan) by playing at 16. We had a few ancient 78s, but I don't think I have ever seen a disc to be played at 16.

A message in your Outbox just means the recipient hasn't read it. You don't need to do anything once it's in there.

Re: WTB: Working CD player for almost no money!
Never mind. At my suggestion the brother bought a Sony DVD player in Currys for 49 euro, and it's now spinning merrily away. Apart from a slightly louder mechanism he thinks it sounds as good as or better than the venerable Arcam. Digital really has come a long way since the 90s.

WTB: Working CD player for almost no money!
Hi all, the Arcam Alpha 6 player I donated to my brother many moons ago is finally dying. Just wondering if anyone has a player gathering dust that they'd be willing to sell for cheap? There's not much budget available here.

JS Bach: Organ Works [Winsemius] https://www.organroxx.com/web/binary/image?model=organroxx_muziekdb_v2.album&id=984&field=cover_picture The first thing that struck me on listening to this CD for the first time was the huge presence of both the performances and the recording. The playing of...

Yeah, and they're good enough that they've unlocked a hunger I had successfully suppressed. The Dutch would not be to replace the Audioplans in my mind, they'd go somewhere else (where I could possibly play louder).
I'll get over it in a week or two.

Sloop John B had a demo lined up years ago, but I don't know if it ever happened.

Re: What music are you listening to currently?
One of the things I love about streaming is finding stuff you'd never come across otherwise. Qobuz suggested this new release to me this morning and, in a sure sign that the algo has got me nailed, I unironically love it. 80s-style synthy cheese that skirts so close to parody it's both ridiculous an...
