Re: Computer Audio Blasphemy, nige tries Another SD Card Player

FYI, for anyone interested in what should be a clock upgrade to this and/or a dac, Andrea group buy in progress https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/group-buys/291925-tempered-master-clock-buy-53.html Its somewhat complicated, bunch of options, and you need to pick the right crystal type and frequency fo...

Re: NOT QUITE NEVER AGAIN, THE GROUP BUY DAC BUILD

Hi Greg So I really can't answer, I haven't built this dac. My current dac is from ian, and I never compared it to my soekris. Soekris is mothballed and would take some effort to resurrect so any comparison is unlikely. Haven't been working on my system since covid started, and not sure when I'll re...

Re: Computer Audio Blasphemy, nige tries Another SD Card Player

My instinct says that part of the magic of this solution is creating a simple path where the SD Player (running with good clocks and clean power) generates an I2S signal, reclocked with a potato semi FF (at least thats what I do) and you feed that signal though short wires directly into an appropria...

Re: Computer Audio Blasphemy, nige tries Another SD Card Player

Interesting developments guys. Found this ebay link, looks like the same player https://www.ebay.com/itm/SD3-75-reference-digital-turntable-supports-WAV-DSD-FLAC-MP3-/273993060243 Found it with google search, not ebay search because seller is currently closed for Chinese new year. If we get a more u...

Re: Computer Audio Blasphemy, nige tries Another SD Card Player

FYI guys, for mounting ndk clocks, I figured out that sot23-6 adapters are a perfect fit The holes for the sot23 adapter will line up with the pad pattern for crystek's, or you can wire from there if you have to. I soldered the adapter to the bottom board by putting solder in the hole and pad, then ...

Re: NOT QUITE NEVER AGAIN, THE GROUP BUY DAC BUILD

I found some small ceramic heaters on Amazon and bought a few, they have worked very well for heating the crystals and make a big improvement in sound....bang for buck is amazing. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HALJIA-Ceramic-Heater-Heating-Element/dp/B076HDK1NF/ref=pd_sbs_60_1/259-9509529-2812637?_encod...

Re: NOT QUITE NEVER AGAIN, THE GROUP BUY DAC BUILD

I want to get some Mori clocks at his next group buy. I only hear good things about the clocks, and really reasonable prices. Did you get the oven too? Someone at diyaudio said he started without an oven, and it sounded great, but got even better when the oven to his crystal. What type of crystal ar...

Re: NOT QUITE NEVER AGAIN, THE GROUP BUY DAC BUILD

So FYI, my previous post was based on information from this link https://www.tecategroup.com/products/ultracapacitors/ultracapacitor-FAQ.php The part on balancing is a ways down the link I never heard of this company, but they make supercaps, and what they say about passive balancing makes sense. So...
