^^ Fergus, the LVB & Brahms VCs are my favourite two, by some considerable way ahead of all other comers. The Sibelius, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Bruch & Elgar are all wonderful and would be in the next batch, but the former are magnificent edifices of Romanticism...

I have managed 157...(struggled with a lot of 20th century). I noticed quite a few Renaissance composers in there, many of whom I have heard of course... but if your collection only goes as far back as Bach, I think you could be quite disadvantaged.

I have the Perlman/ Barenboim set which I'm quite satisfied with. Whilst I have always enjoyed these works (indeed, this is a very early box set of mine), the works have never spoken to me sufficiently strongly to warrant the purchase of a 2nd set.... although of course that might change in the futu...
