Re: Tweaker's Rash

Hi Nige Alas not. In time it will get incorporated into the repositories I'm sure. In the short term you need to start with vanilla Arch, Debian Wheezy or Angstrom (which isn't really ideal for audio work) and build on from there. I am crawling through that mire myself. I get Miero's work integrated...

Re: Tweaker's Rash

[quote="jrling Now that sounds interesting. TPA will get it 'right' you can bet, without any 'Tweakers Rash' involved. Any idea when it is expected on the market and the price?[/quote] Not for a little while, Russ only shared the layout a day or so ago. So no price yet either. BUT - there are d...

Re: Tweaker's Rash

dont think the guys were ciunas bashing more like usb vs i2s i think it might be down to the usb of the rpi/bbb not been up to it why so many components in the chain fixing problems with jitter and timing, are we not loosing as we gain? should we not have one or more central mclk/s that run both a ...

Re: Tweaker's Rash

I have to quietly (well not very!) disagree. Last weekend I reinstalled my WaveIO interface, plugged back in my pc and fired up the latest incarnations of MQN. I gave it a fair listen, then returned to picoreplayer running I2S directly from RPi into the Buffalo. It was closer that I expected (Gordon...

Re: MQN

OK - I should have the time this weekend to do a direct comparison between linear powered PC/W8.1/WaveIO/Buffalo running one of the latest versions of MQN and the RPi running Squeezelite direct I2S into the Buffalo. Can someone tell me which versions of MQN files I need to make this work? I confess ...

Re: Tweaker's Rash

Yes that is the same thinking I have. I wired it up and am running I2S right now. I need a little more time to evaluate it before I comment. But certainly much better than USB. And it is an attractive sound. I had the WaveIO wired using mini coax, that is one of the reasons for my question. Mark do...

Re: Tweaker's Rash

Anyone know what the difference in sound might be had by using mini coax to hook up I2S verses regular wire. I think RFI is likely to be spewed all over using regular wire. I would think it would have an impact on the sound. Any thoughts? John do you know? In theory coax would be better, but in rea...

Re: Tweaker's Rash

running out of hair have two identical kingston sd cards dunno what else to try Hi Nige What is the issue? I could configure and send you a working sdcard if it would help... Oh - I see now it is a BBB issue. Can't offer much help in fact there - mine doesn't arrive until middle of the month now. H...

Re: Tweaker's Rash

Aleg That's a great piece of detective work. If we could sync both BBB and dac from one high precision clock we would be in a very good place. Nige, there are a couple of ESS Sabre 9023 dacs on Ebay I think (Hifimediy, being the obvious example) which can be bought with on board clock so will run as...
