Re: JC Audiophile optimization on win7, 2012, and R2.

Ok, so here goes for a system32 (and Windows Folder, and Users folder, and...) slimming guide of sorts: 1) As a template, I used the following Windows XP slimming guide done by "Bold Fortune" over at Graphix An' Stuff: http://www.graphixanstuff.com/Forum/index.php?showforum=68 - Surprising...

JC,

For tweak 37, does adding a semicolon (";") before the lines of code you have listed effectively "delete" them, or should you literally delete them from the ini file? e.g. ";woafon=dosapp.fon" etc.

Re: JC Audiophile optimization on win7, 2012, and R2.

Also, for the record, the screenshot shan posted I originally posted to show what keys you should NOT delete (so, the ones in the red frame). I was doing this based off of the Graphix N' Stuff poster's recommendation for Win 7 performance slimming (he implied deleting those keys would cause issues w...

Re: JC Audiophile optimization on win7, 2012, and R2.

I made a good amount of progress this past weekend with more system32 slimming based on Bold Fortune's Win XP slimming guide. It turned out that I could delete most, if not all, of what he recommended without much issue, with a few exceptions (and many files that simply weren't there - some I found ...

Re: JC Audiophile optimization on win7, 2012, and R2.

Nice to see a cMP'er on here, welcome. I personally was not involved with the XP slimming that went on over on AA, but I was always intrigued by it. I still use cMP as a shell (just sounds better to get rid of Explorer - others have experienced similar results with the TotalCommander shell in Win 8)...

Re: MQN

The third part of a Q&A series with John Swenson is up on Audiostream, this time where he attempts to explain why or how even "bit perfect" software can sound different from one another. Would be interesting to see what sbgk thinks of his ideas: http://www.audiostream.com/content/qa-jo...

Re: JC Audiophile optimization on win7, 2012, and R2.

You ever heard of this tweak, JC? This is asumming a USB DAC. Sort of similar to the old cMP-era (apparently backed by PKShan) reg tweak of IdleEnable=1 for USB Controllers, at least in theory.... anyway: Go to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\ -> Under the VID Keys, search until you find the...

Re: JC Audiophile optimization on win7, 2012, and R2.

thx. shall try this in weekends. for whatever DLL you cannot delete, you can disable them in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID only tried to disable firewallapi.dll or something like that. there is SQ change. How did you disable using this method exactly? For instance, I find multi...

Re: JC Audiophile optimization on win7, 2012, and R2.

Okay, so tried to re-do my first go at system32 slimming, figured out which file was responsible for my BSOD the first time stating the graphics driver wouldn't initialize - it's apparently 'tsddd.dll', which is the Microsoft "Framebuffer Display Driver." Anyway, do NOT delete that file, e...

Re: Build a dedicated Audio PC

am thinking about buy a new board. 2 xeons board. the idea isn't clean power. i just want IRQ/interrupts processing dedicates in one xeon. so another xeon can 'purely' do audio processing. this is the only method, given the design of windows. in fact, with 2 processors, i can apply MS 'least resour...
