Re: Keep the CD Player (as backup)

Yes it’s good to have a back up, listening to a CD can be very relaxing as distinct from hopping from song to song on a streamer. WRT the router, I wonder could the issue be the power supply, connection pins? Plug / socket / cable issue? Won’t have too long to wait before the new router arrives hope...

Re: Advice sought on Leaving an amp on all the time

Intermittent faults can be difficult and time consuming to track down. I think the I22 is a class D Amplifier, so it is very energy efficient, but from photos of the internals on the www it has a number of internal pcb boards. Probably the fastest way is to start replacing boards until the issue is ...

Re: The BER nesscessities

IMO I think it would be better to leave alone. If you really want to know your BER rating you could estimate it yourself. Obtain floor area cert of the dwelling and your annual Electricity + Gas meter readings and do the calculation yourself. Granted it will provide a result for total energy usage, ...

Re: System upgrade - Gryphon Diablo 300 and dCS Rossini w/clock

The Gryphon stuff is pretty special all right. I had a listen to the Tabu AT which was in Cloney's a few months back. Probably the best amp in the shop at the time.

Serious Pedigree!!

Re: Cloney?

TBH I’m not sure how things are progressing with the return to normal. I’d imagine it’s still by appointment only. But if you’ve been vaccinated and are after something in particular then I’d reckon you should be able to get an appointment. I think there’s a numbers limit operating in many shops atm...

Re: The HiFi Hospital

Well done Gerry, it’s nice to hear a success story!!

The 300B is a special tube indeed, not sure how many forum members have one.

Cloney’s have a Feilks Audio Arioso 300B 8w amp, apparently Harbeth’s have never been heard to sound better!!

Any other members out there with 300B valve amps?

Re: So much for my golden ears

Interesting observation Simon, I would suggest giving it a bit more time, perhaps different tracks, vocals, bass heavy etc etc all to discern if there is a difference you can hear based on genre. Perhaps ask the wife what is the difference she can detect, that might help you focus your attention in ...
