Re: Streaming - how many are doing it?
Fran, when I set up the kitchen rig, I decided to use a cubicle in the integrated presses etc. Speakers went on top, but I was limited to about 300mm in height. Additionally given the shelf was laminated chip board I was further limited with weight. Additionally equipment which ran hot was out too a...

Re: What music are you listening to currently?
On the TT, The Chemical Brothers….Dig your own hole…
Block rockin beats.
The 3 tracks on side C, it doesn’t matter, don’t stop the rock & get up on it like this … were particularly enjoyable.
Released 7th April 1997.

Re: Streaming - how many are doing it?
I use a Marantz ND8006 for the kitchen rig. I stream from various internet radio stations, some come in at 128Kb/sec and it’s ok. Other stations are lower. I do like Interstellar Radio, prior to that was Ocean Radio Chilled, but that seems to have gone off the net. But there is a lot of stuff on the...

Re: Time to say...... Goodbye?
Well I’m not surprised that consideration is being given to shutting it down. I myself have not been a great poster, I did try introducing a number of different themes, Lyrics and the photo section, books etc. some traction did occur but like most things, it fizzles out after a while. I have an annu...

Re: Speakers I have owned over the years, what about you?
Ahh... yes.... going down memory lane now... First true HiFi speaker was Acoustic Energy AE109, bought in the HiFi store on Aston Quay next to the Virgin Mega Store. For some reason I am never able to remember the name of the store and I have to be reminded every time. Next up was Acoustic Energy Ae...

Re: solar panel and the way they might heat ye?
TBH there is no substitute for insulation. But to get a good standard can be quiet involved. Attic insulation, thermal wrap of building and high spec windows, which may require new sills to be fitted? I'm not a fan of putting electrics in attics, as attic spaces don't normally have divisions nor smo...

Re: solar panel and the way they might heat ye?
Sounds like a very interesting project going on there Ivor. I don't have much to offer, but if I may I would suggest the batteries are kept away from the house. Lithium batteries if they overheat / go on fire they can be very difficult to extinguish. No point in spending money to save a few hundred ...

Re: HIGH END MUNICH 2022
Great stuff Fran, truly super photos there. I don’t feel so bad now about my own expenditure on hifi….. when I see those Hi End photos I realise a lot more money could be spent. Some really exotic stuff there indeed. Some items which caught my eye was the Tektron amplifier…. most interesting! For so...

Re: Where do folks buy their physical media?
TBH I don't buy much physical media or physical anything these days. I have not used my eBay or Amazon accounts now for perhaps more than a year. WRT LP / CD's I did buy from Norman Records & Infraction Records in the past. I have not bought anything from them in some time now, primarily due to ...
