Re: Valve amp woes ....

Hey Mike and Fran. Its a Synthesis "Shine" integrated amp. Bought it from Noel. I collected it today and all seems AOK. It actually sounds better than before - maybe that's down to the Rotel that I borrowed. Bernard explained that finally he had found a bad crimped connection in an 8 wire ...

Valve amp woes ....

Hello All. I bought a used valve integrated last August. It's driving me to drink ! Although I auditioned it and it seemed fine, since bringing it home it's been nothing but trouble since. The left channel keeps dropping in volume and I hear a sizzle in the left speaker. The balance control doesn't ...

SUPER BARGAIN ! http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41-oUed1K8L._SL500_AA240_.jpg I got this for €6.00 last weekend at HMV. My introduction to the Classic Classical world. It is a 6 CD set with what seems like a great variety. Moods, Movie & TV,etc. groupings. I probably hear snippits of a lo...

Re: Forum Meet Up Anyone?

Hi Fran.
Fair play to you.
Count me in, for sure, if you get this together.
I could have a look at the tone arm then, too.

Hope there's plenty of interest.

Thanks.
Gerry

Re: DIY project ....

Thanks Fergus, Tony, Jaybee. V. lucky to have access to CNC centre. About €100k by the time it was tooled up, commissioned etc. Have to keep it busy to earn its keep. Plenty of elbow grease going into cleaning raw materials and bringing up a finish though. I just hope that it's worth it. If anybody'...

Never can find time to really dig into classical music in earnest.
But I really enjoy this every now and then ....

Re: DIY project ....

Hi Fran. Yep. I bought that motor from David. Here are a couple more pics. No arm board in these - it stands to correct level on risers - will post pics later. The bearing is from a stripped down oscillating office fan. It's a hardened steel shaft with a cast cylindrical block just off mid way in th...

DIY project ....

Hi All. I'm working on a DIY turntable. Using scavenged parts and materials I am trying to make it at silly money. i.e. next to nothing. Just to see what's possible. The base is a waste sink cut out from a solid walnut kitchen counter. The acrylic structure and platter [80 mm total] is of 20 mm acry...
