Fanless Cooler

Post by tony »

Have a new box coming that will have no heatsink and thinking about using it for the pc parts and the power supply. It is certainly big enough. Had a quick look to see if the streacom cooler bits were affordable but got dissuaded from that very quickly. Found this type below. I can see potential issues with ram fitting and height depending on case size.Height wouldn't be an issue
for me.

Nigel has suggested temps are not really a problem because of the application we are using but kinda want to have some sort of cooler.

That looks very nice. Who removed the lid off their PC to let you to photo? and is there a key to the numbered components - surely not all lumps of brass?

the pics from pangs website

i think there aluminium its more conductive and much cheaper
we gotta love the brass though

You agree Nigel! I liked the look of the first one and is my preference. But a lump of brass might do the trick. If Adam likes the brass you gotta like the brass. Not sure how conductive it is for dissipating heat but can test that with the bit I have.

Have some of this on order also http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380908765788? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Very soon I will have a big box of components like Seb!

Here is the thermal conductivity or materials:

Tony, as you know my opinion of brass......but don't trust me! :)

Thanks for the link Adam if I understand correctly brass is a bit down the league in thermal conductivity. One issue I see with the nice basket fanless cooler is it might render the brass chunk redundant. The idea will be to try it with the brass in place only and see what temps it gets to. If that is sort of working maybe a bit like jenga I will get a bigger piece to put on top of that until the processor is crushed! The copper pipe route will probably be pursued if that proves unsuccessful.

My CPU is not even worm when running MQn!
It was hotter when I used to run JPLAY two PC set-up. But, look at the bright side........you can always use it to make another cup of tea! :))

Hi,

My current server is a Gigabyte GA-Z87M-D3H, I5-4670t, NOFAN CR-95c, 2x4 GB Corsair, TeraDak 210 ATX LPS with separate 5V line for PPA V2 USB card, the 64GB OS SSD is using a PPA battery pack, PS/2 mouse, USB back-lit keyboard, on-board video, 256GB SSD for music (all WAV files), both SSD's use PPA red thin SATA cables. WIN2012 and AO (1A, no USB optimization).

Been using this NOFAN CR-95c basket thing for about 4 months with no problems.. when I was researching this - the CR-95 got much better reviews than the cheaper model IIRC...
