Just saw your post in time. Thanks for the alert :)

Now that I have your attention can I pick your brains re: the Document & Eyewitness set by Wire.
The legendary 4th album? It's coming out on double vinyl. Is it good enough to stand beside those classic first three albums? I've already made up my mind I'm getting it irrespective of it's credentials or lack of. Love to hear your thoughts....

Hi Dermot.
To be honest I don't know. Don't have that.
I have Pink Flag, 154 and Chairs Missing.

Pink Flag is probably my favourite record ever. I bought it on release, think I was about 14 and played it a lot.
When I left home 2 years later it was played practically non stop.
Then I discovered travel, girls, drink, other stuff, and my playlist mellowed as playtime got harder.
Last few years it's the album I play most. But in the car, on CD.
Still sounds fresh. The lyrics still resonate. Perfect Album.

The next two I like. But they're not as great IMHO.

I bought Object 47 on release but think I've played it twice. Didn't grab me.

Interested to hear what Document & Eyewitnes is like if you get it.
Cheers,
Gerry

Pink Flag rewrote the rule book. It was a review by Geoff Barton (Sounds) who turned me on to Wire through their Chairs Missing Lp which is still my favourite Wire opus. I always (wrongly) assumed that PF was just another generic punk thing. I only got to hear some of it on a fantastic compilation (On Returning) which pricked my ears up! Then it was only a matter of time before I got around to buying the album. What an ear opener both musically and lyrically! Never cared for the third album though except maybe for one track which had an amazingly sounding guitar solo that was also featured on the compilation. Can't remember the title. The only other album I bothered with was the 'bottles' cover Lp from a few years ago. Never play it! Forgot the Peel Sessions Lp! Must dig it out tonight as I've no idea what it sounds like :) I know there's a pointless long piece on it.....

Don't think I'll be bothering with Document set though - see review below....
