Tube Amp Rejuvenation Project :)

Post by sdiesel77 »

Hi All,
I though I'd share with you my current fun project :p
After 11years of good service I decided to give my amp to a friend for a big rejuvenation project.
The amp is a Yaqin MC100B (already slightly customised by myself), and it was starting to produce a small humm in the speakers

Here are the mods done:
  • Review/Redo all soldering/cabling
  • Remove the Ultra Linear/Triode mode options (remove wiring and switches linked to it)
  • Remove the front input RCA & front input 0.6v/0.25v selector
  • Change all input voltage from 0.25v to 0.6v
  • Fit 2 x HT delays
  • Insert Green LEDs for HT Delays (in the front RCA holes) and a Red LED (for power) in the old selector hole
  • Fit new potentiometer (Alps Black Beauty)+shaft extender & new capacitors (Audyn True Copper Max)
  • Improve amp safety by upgrading the diode bridge rectifier circuit

What option did you go with or was the ultra linear wiring removed to go pure pentode (beam tetrode in this case)?

Kept UL only as I much prefer the sound of it. More detailed and better sound stage

Nice video Steph. I like the tek 465 scope too - I have one of them waiting beside the bench for a little tune up!
