Sending Stuff Back to Amazon

I recently bought a battery-powered portable vacuum cleaner from amazon. I tried to send it back but the post-office (P7T) won't accept anything with a battery. In the end I just decided to keep it.

I rented a wifi dongle from France and encountered the same issue when I tried to post it back through An Post. Had to send it DHL (but even DHL through An Post was a no go - had to go direct) and it cost me more than the actual rental.
