Noel Kelehan Rest In Peace

Post by Seán »

Tonight as a tribute to the late Noel Kelehan I listened to his very fine quintet:

Image

Mike Nolan (trumpet and flugelhorn)
Keith Donald (soprano sax and Yamaha tenor sax)
Frank Hess (bass)
John Wadham (drums)
Noel Kelehan (piano)

RTE have not broadcast a tribute to him unless I have missed it?

I only just heard he passed away. He was a stalwart of the RTE music army for years... before they employed second rate comedians to form "house bands" anyway. I always had a lot of respect for Noel's playing. RIP Indeed.

Ronan Collins paid tribute today. It was nice.
Followed his words with a lovely piece. Might be from that album.
I saw him in Cork once. Great.
RIP.

I had not heard that news and I am sorry to hear of his passing.

Very sorry to read of his passing. I used to regularly go to his gigs in the Killiney Court Hotel on a Sunday when he had the Quintet. Always a great night's music. John Wadham also passed away a few years ago.
