Released last year on Sugar Hill Records I expected this to be a fairly modern production which suits Candi... it's not. The sound is as dated as the cover... it's ok but an opportunity missed. For me the 2006 album "His Hands" remains her best work.

This is her 1982 album AFAIK.

Saw her in the Sugarclub last year ( or 2), excellent gig. She was promoting "Life Happens" which is her current release.

Must be a Re-release. It certainly sounds 1982!

Funny, I'd consider "sounding 1982" a positive thing.
Good dynamic range most likely an no ProTools.

I've been enjoying this recently, authentic old school, nostalgia, retro, soul, R&B.
Very smooth easy on the ear a-la Sam Cooke.
Came across this recently via White Denim ( 2 ex members heavily involved), great listen.
Also picked up this for RSD:

I completely misread that as 70s static and a crackling recording. Cos that's how I remember vinyl! Granted, that says more about the records at home when I was a kid rather than anything else. I'd say I'd enjoy this one!
