Recorded in 1998, just a year or so before Pops Staples died and finished in 2014 by daughter Mavis on vocals and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy guitar and bass and his son Spencer playing drums. Wonderful easy Soul/Gospel unforced... Could be the album of the year, so far.

Putting Bettye Lavette and producer extraordinaire Joe Henry together isn't a new trick but it's one worth repeating. Absolutely wonderful album from Bettye.

I'm pretty sure this is a James Brown song...

A wonderful soul compilation from Ace/Kent.

Could be Dave Godin Vol 4.

Hi Sloop
I have a heap of them in one form or another.
The sound quality can be very hit or miss but the music is the business.

This is an Atlantic compilation, mid 60s to mid 70s, sound quality is excellent.

George Jackson the Dylan song is given a sublime rendering.

I've been enjoying this recently, authentic old school, nostalgia, retro, soul, R&B.
Very smooth easy on the ear a-la Sam Cooke.
