When it comes to folk music and acoustic guitar picking and singing, they don't come any better than Nic Jones....

I just have two of his LPs... Penguin Eggs and Noah's Arc Trap and I had practically forgotten about him until I saw an amazing documentary about him, his music and the accident that changed his life forever.

Hard to believe! And a certain Donal Gallagher produced the thing. Rory, of course, plays on one track.

Saw Eight Blackbird with Bonnie Prince Billy (Will Oldham) the other night. Some great interpretations of American folk.

Featured Eight Blackbird doing Bryce Dessner’s (from The National) Murder Ballades, a work inspired by American folk music and commissioned by Eighth Blackbird. A brilliant rendition of Frederic Rzewski’s Coming Together, spoken/acted by Will Oldham and a few Bonnie Prince Billy songs.

Great night, would recommend seeing them if they are in Dublin at some stage. Would have liked a few more Bonnie Prince Billy songs (only got 4) but can't have everything

I’m a big RT fan but only have 2 FC albums picked up s/h along the way and not given too much of a listen.
