Just finished organizing a particular folder so I though that I would post the following images; the first is a simple, standard landscape....

The second image is the same subject taken from a different perspective....

Thank you Fran but they are just simple landscapes really. I was lucky with the light on that day.

My impression (pardon the pun) of a Monet garden painting....

Now that I like....very nice Fergus, I would buy a print of that and hang on a wall!

That's a stunning image Fergus! I still can't figure out how you did it? Something to do with focus?

Thank you very much for your comment Pearse. I have always found it fascinating the way in which different people are attracted to different types of images. This one, for example, has no subject matter in terms of a point of focus for the eye to concentrate on (unless you consider the duck’s feather to be it), no compositional structure and is virtually mono tonal spread in its colour palette. It is also practically out of focus! Needless to say, I like it too.

Thank you very much Dermot; your comment is much appreciated.

Basically I was shooting a reflection to start with (obviously) so the image will be somewhat softer anyway. A wide aperture will then give a narrower depth of field and finally I did not sharpen the image in the editing suite. The intention was to leep the image "soft" from the beginning.
