I am even less knowledgeable Nige and I thought the same as you initially, until I thought to take the Reclocker out given it was designed to be disconnected easily and DSD still did not work on the old direct connection.

I have no damaged or blown anything in a long time so I was probably due a Faux Pas :-)

i just wouldn't do it
the wadia is quite complex from what little ive read about it (time shifted etc)
i admire the way its build, their new stuff is uninteresting by comparison

can there be a better alternative to the sonicweld diverter?
maybe a new usb to spdif converter can be made using a 768khz xmos chip and a reclocker that could better the sonicweld
yea..... id think thats quite possible
To what cost will that came?
I saw that 768 cost $130usd, but no idea about reclocker and what other costs

what is the level 4 out of warranty..........
id almost guarantee this 768khz usb card and reclocker would turn the L4 inside out
2 1/2 years from now!! If I wait until then I am sure I will need to wire in 4 reclockers and a few JKIsohubby thingies just be on the starting grid

well the reclock circuit would be less than 2usd
and the conversion from i2s to spdif something like a wm8804 chip about 10-15usd
oscillator, adapter boards + misc probably for under 50usd

its probably more labor than cost

actually heres a ready made device i had not noticed
http://www.diyinhk.com/shop/audio-kits/ ... el_sticker
it uses the same chip as the 768khz i2s were using here
theres a good possibility its better than the sonicweld diverter

What is the difference between the two?

http://www.diyinhk.com/shop/audio-kits/ ... el_sticker

http://www.ebay.com/itm/F-1-XMOS-USB-Di ... 2062071571

Can the F-1 be supplied by cleaner power?

Would ading this benefit?

Hi Adam,

the F-1 uses the xu208 while the other device uses the xu216 which equals two xu208 on one chip.
I have an F-1 and it was a great improvement, but with my new MC3+ USB attached to the chain it made no sense. You can power it with clean 5V with a split USB cable easily and it is reported that sq improves, I did not test that by myself. You find lot detailed information on the F-1 in a huge thread on CA.

Take care
Thomas

P.S. I know I have an open question regarding wtfQPlay from you on my table...

Thanks Thomas,

There are so many combinations that, in the end, I give up!!
Maybe just one Intona or the JPLAY "reboxed" Intona will ad some benefit?! Maybe....

The easy way would be to have them all and compare and then choose what you like!

Final mods to the Big7 this week and the top is back on as I do not believe it can be improved any further, some really big steps in audio pleasure after finally settling on the latest USB Card from DIYINHK with isolation and XMOS 768K PCB.

The 3.3v Regs from DIYINHK 0.8uV Ultralow noise DAC power supply regulator 3.3/5/7V 1.5A*x2

Toroidal for the Regs from Antec, a bit oversized but good 6.3v x 2 out.

Super Fast Potato Flip Flop and needs to be mounted on a board as it is tiny.
