Good retailer... UK based.

Post by Ivor »

On another thread I mentioned I had a bit of a scare with my turntable not turning (a major flaw in a turntable I feel) but thanks to The Hand of Fran (patent pending) it was working again in no time... I decided to give the TT a little TLC and so went scouring for bearing oil (essentially a Roksan kit) and a genuine Roksan RMAT-5 turntable mat. There was nothing wrong with the Funk Achromat I was using but I just thought I'd give it its "proper" mat. I can confirm the TT likes it's new mat.

Anyway my search for these brought me far and wide, prices ranged quite a bit and even a price quoted by a shop here in Dublin was just too high to go for. It's not their fault, that's the way retail is sometimes, but too big a difference not to go online. An issue with my credit card whereby it insists on additional security features meant that it was just about impossible to use on some sites so I emailed a shop in the UK I thought looked good and straight and we did the deal over the phone...

I just wanted to give kudos to Stuart at Mackenzie Hi Fi http://www.mackenziehifi.com for being such a nice helpful guy to deal with. A browse of his website shows some pretty tasty gear too! I should add that he also threw in a gift of Vinyl Passion Stylus Dust Buster because there had been some delay in getting the good to me. Given that Stuart hadn't charged postage in the first place I wasn't expecting next day delivery!

Anyway, it's always good to pass on a retailer was a pleasure to deal with even on small stuff like this.
