This little electric burr grinder is what I use http://www.currys.ie/product/delonghi-k ... 62/396.2.3 it's worthless for espresso straight out of the box but there's a good hack here http://geekandgrind.tumblr.com/post/171 ... ee-grinder , easily done and gives a perfect grind.

Save your money maybe and go for something like this https://www.homecoffeemachines.ie/produ ... er-grinder
Actually I have one for sale at the moment on adverts because I bought a Mazzer Superjolly. The Rocky would be regarded as a decent grinder your partner is on the right path. Ken makes great coffee so don't discount the delonghi if you are prepared to do the mod

Thanks for all the info guys. It looks like manual is still the grinder of choice, consumption of 1-2 cups per day currently doesn't justify the outlay. Plenty of food for thought if things change though. Life's too short to be drinking crap coffee :-) Shane

I have one of those dehlonghi grinders and was always frustrated with it's inability to grind down to Espresso.
I feel a screwdriver and hacksaw situation day coming soon.

I use this one.

It's been three years now and it has given me absolutely no reasons to complain.

I had a rocky once too sold to a friend great grinder still going strong must be over 7 year old now
Have a superjolly this last 2-3 years it's a beast
Only major benefit from the jolly is the finer adjustment imo
Nothing that couldn't be adjusted in the tamping

Don't see the point in dosers for domestic use
More of a hinderance imo

Guess Tony and I have been reading the same internet reviews

I'd like a rocket espresso machine but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon

Rocket Giotto or ECM machine really badly needed here as well! Have finally done the pressure adjustment on the Gaggia and the last batch of beans were a lot better. Maybe I am starting to figure out the roasting. Portafilter is now generally working a treat after some spray tanning issues! I agree re doserless I got the doser Rocky as I reckoned the doserless would be too messy but I see your point if only making for one you can just grind sufficient with the doser. Shane maybe take that in to consideration.

what pressure did you set it to?
think mine is set to 7bar stock
its a Expobar Leva Dual Boiler with Reservoir

know all about the spray tan its real messy if it does that
