QNAP Ransonware

Post by james »

I came across this ..

https://it.slashdot.org/story/22/01/ ... r-key

I am running a QNAP media server. It contains all my ripped CD's. I still have the CD's but the thought of ripping them again and editing the metadata is just .. not an option .. (I would just sign up to a streaming service and hope for the best. But they would probably not have some of my more obscure CD's). I assume that my router has a firewall and it's safe. [I don't let the QNAP contact the internet - At least I think it can't. I have tried to let it just be seen in the local network (house) but occasionally I have to update the software on the QNAP. I am not good at this network stuff].

But worth noting the article.

Again as I said in an earlier post -- BACK a BACKUP.
