I see there is an Amazon one day sale thingy on these on thursday.

Its Amazon.de - have no clue what the discount is though.

I've been reading around quite a bit on them. They seem to be a triumph of convenience...... but sound quality is "ok" - good enough for casual listening, but not upto serious comparison. The pro vs non-pro seems to come down to better wifi connectivity and ethernet, but otherwise they are the same.

Review in latest hifi+
Jan 2004 issue (I get it by post)

Basically mini is replacement for the Google thing (can't. remember the name).

Pro is much better

Pro plus better again

If using digital out no difference between Pro and Pro plus.

Basically good value

I wasn't paying attention before, but I'm interested now I read that the mini includes gapless playback. That's my major annoyance with the Chromecast Audio that continues to perform sterling work in the kitchen system. Generally not a problem for songs, but often a PITA for classical.

I must look a little closer here.
