John, I am not an expert. If you use 7bit addressing then 1001100 address is packed as 1001100X, where X is R/W bit. According to this you address should be 0x98 or 0x99 depending whether you are reading or writing. More information about I2C addressing can be found here: https://www.totalphase.com/...

James, Here is just a small idea. If you have Naim Headline headphone amp that you mentioned in your first post, then it may not be that difficult to give it a try. As far as I can see the amp requires just a single 18V power rail and this would be quite easy to try. I am not saying that you need to...

LT3045 can provide 500mA max. Personally I would not put more than 300-350mA on them. They can be used in parallel though. The require a very small output series resistance. Around 0.3 Ohm.
