I built a pair of Frugal horns and Cyburgs Needle with some modification, like adding second mid/low driver, few good years back and got a very good results.

Hard to say these days. If it's low cost gear, say €2-300, sure you can go ahead, but for expensive one I would recommend bank transfer.

My personal experience does confirm that they do make difference, depends from brands and types, but still difference is present. Costs are big enough reason some, if not every company to use as cheap as possible parts in their products, but depends on the tier this product is market for. Long conve...
