Re: Headphones to replace speakers

True, I always want to check out what they have connected and playing on the 1st floor demo room. They told me once i have to make an appointment, which i did few times, but such i shame i can't just pop in for a 10mins and have a quick listen. Complete opposite from Cloney where they often tell me ...

Re: Headphones to replace speakers

During lockdown I was working from abroad, and used headphones only, and really got used it, enjoyed it a lot! Its a different experience from speakers of course, but I liked it. For that purpose i got myself Audeze LCD2 (after trying few Hifiman and other planar headphones) so I personally prefer p...

Re: Chinese catridges

Peak at AT is around 15k, and ~2-3db, which is probably audible as "air" around the instruments, where chi-fi is 10k and almost +6db (not the cartridge that we have, but could be similar), which could be that emphasized drum cymbals and hi hats i hear. Maybe just not a good match for my sy...

Re: Chinese catridges

I see ASR did measurements of Ti105, just 6ohm version, and it does have peak at 10khz which would explain why it sounds a bit like old B&W speakers I had, lots of treble :) Installed it again today, was able to tame the highs a bit with proper setup, but compared to AT cartridge (or just playin...

Re: Chinese catridges

Preparing to install chi-fi MC again, but last time struggled with getting cartridge perfectly parallel (or perpendicular) to the lines on protractor, so got an idea to 3D print small tool that you put on cartridge and it makes much easier to see if its aligned to printed lines! They usually suggest...

Re: Chinese catridges

Uf, i am stressed just from reading this. I broke (bend) cantilever few months ago on my AT, actually my toddler did it, and didn't want to pay for replacement, very hard to negotiate with children:) At least you'll have fancy speced cartridge now. Btw too much highs is usually when preamp impedance...

Re: Chinese catridges

I can't quite remember how many hours I had but I do remember thinking after a good few evenings listening I thought it settled out with a bit more smoothness in the top end. Maybe that equates to 30 hours or so - I know I'm being vague but I didn't really keep track of it. Exactly which one did yo...

Re: High Fidelity

My office setup is Fosi ZA3 amp, Schiit Modius DAC, Sound Artists LS3/5, Rel tZero sub, so fairly entry level stuff mostly purchased second hand, more than 10-20x less money than my main setup. Latest addition was cheap small Fosi amp (100€), i just rolled new op-amps (~30€), and that amp is giant k...

Re: Who knows what about thermal wrapping on houses?

Since we're talking about house isolation; did anybody fixed squeaking noisy floors, and maybe added some sound proofing inside floors or walls?
