Re: Last Friday's performance of Mahler's Second Symphony

I don´t know the soprano, but Patricia Bardon is well known in Baroque music and Rossini, she recorded Handel´s Orlando with Les Arts Florissants, but then, maybe, Mahler is not her thing.
Glad to know you enjoyed the rest of the performance Seán.

Sabadus sings superbly, with flawless taste, the arias are very well chosen for a recital, and Nuovo Aspetto plays splendidly. Super enjoyable.

This is depressing. One of the greatest singers of the day caught in such poor sound that you might think that she was not at all at Wigmore Hall but in a flat 2 blocks away.

Re: What are you listening two?

They are also doing all Beethoven symphonies in Guanajuato. I have yet to warm to what I have heard of van Immerseel's Beethoven cycle, perhaps I should get...

Re: What are you listening two?

<You Lucky man Pepe; I would love to hear them live. I have liked Rousset for a long time now.>

Me too Fergus, probably after William Christie, the finest French Baroque conductor [Yes, Christie is American by birth, but took French nationality a long time ago]. Wish you all could be there.
