Personal Audio Player

It looks like my fine hi-fi is going to be in boxes for some time, as it has been since September. I thought maybe quality Personal Audio Player might dull the pain a little. Does anyone have experience of them? There seem to be nice ones at all the prices from Astell & Kern, my instinct is to g...

Re: Art Dudley, Rest in Peace

I remember him arriving at Stereophile , though I can't believe how long ago that was! His pieces seemed like a breath of fresh air and escaped from the usual parameters. I can remember a review where he listed dust bunnies and abandoned cat toys under "Room Treatments". But in recent year...

Re: B&W Nautilus

I heard them last week too, and I was very impressed. Timbres were beautiful, every instrument independent of every other, very solid tuneful bass perfectly integrated into the sound. Lots of air between the instruments. But a bigger room might suit them better, I did have the feeling that I was too...

Re: new speakers!

Sounds hellish! I did a 90 minute drive earlier which should have taken 40, which was bad enough, but five hours sounds intolerable!

I doubt that the Latin the Christian Brothers were trying to beat into you was a juicy bit of the Old Testament!

Re: new speakers!

I had to look up "osculated" It's French. Sorta. More your Latin, try this: Osculetur me osculo oris sui, quia meliora sunt ubera tua vino, fragrantia unguentis optimis. Oleum effusum nomen tuum, ideo adulescentulae dilexerunt te. or in English: Let him kiss me with the kiss of his mouth:...

Free old Hi-Fi 2. Technics CD player. Gone to new home

Technics SL-PG100A CD player I'm offering this old CD player free on behalf of a friend who doesn't want it any more. She got it around 1989 and it worked when last used. It can be collected in Phibsborough, Tallaght or Dun Laoghaire. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7922/33437092638_2be975b0e0_c.jpg ...

Re: I'm thinking of selling...

I was in Cloney's on Saturday and had a very brief listen to the Elipsas: very impressive. Huge deep soundstage, and powerful deep very clean bass. Wow! Very dynamic and musical, though I have the sense that they like a very powerful amp. I must try and hear them again!

Re: Congratulations Ciaran!

Thank you Ivor, Simon and Derek! I will pass on your good wishes to Rosamund and Milena... if I think they won't be too freaked out to have been mentioned here!

It was a moving ceremony in a fantastic venue, they chose it well!
