Re: Cable for Telephone Extension

Hi James, my ex company used CPC for cables, etc. I always found them to give a quick service and competitively priced.

I'm pretty sure the first couple of times we used them I just paid by card without opening an account.

Re: Streaming - how many are doing it?

I finally bit the bullet and got a subscription to Tidal. As Fran noted with qobuz, Tidal offer various versions of the same album, remixes, Master quality, etc. I generally listen via my phone and headphones out walking or through the car stereo. At home I use a laptop with an Arcam RDac, and find ...

Re: Squaring the circle: the story of Hipgnosis

I watched that a while ago and thought it was very good. The late Storm comes across as not being a particularly nice person but maybe that's what it takes. Part of the pleasure of buying an lp, with a sleeve designed by Hipgnosis, when I was teenager was going over the cover again and again on the ...

Re: Time to say...... Goodbye?

Great to see the forum continuing and kudos to Fran and Hudo for keeping it going. Like a lot on here my drop ins have fallen off dramatically over the last few years, not because I've become indifferent or uninterested, more that I just got out of the habit, so I'll make a more determined effort to...

Re: Soldering iron

Soldering speakers can be tricky. I had a pair of Tangent TM1's years ago which blew one of the Kef mid/bass units. I ordered a replacement from Peter Dand, (remember him?) and, like the idiot that I am, decided to upgrade the wiring from the crossover to the speakers in each cabinet, and to solder ...

Re: Audiophile pub in Dublin

That looks interesting. I wonder what equipment they use and how they tailor the sound depending on the number of people there. Let us know your opinion about it.

Re: Help with Speaker Setup

Thanks for all the advice and sorry about the slow reply, I was away last week. Anyway, the advice opened up new avenues of investigation and shed some light on what's doable on both a practical and domestically acceptable level and what isn't. The two things that I tried were 1) Spikes and coins - ...

That's my thinking too, but if Ivor's idea works I owe him a bottle of wine.
