Gordon I don't know what "things" you are trying but it works
Another winner for clarity
v52/v138 works flawlessly without any glitch
Thank you

just trying to understand why the counter version sounds better/different and can it be done without using counter.

I found v138 a bit tiring, but if you've got valves I suppose that is reduced.

Yes tube DAC,Hybrid with tube output amp
I don't find v138 tiring at all actually more musical with great clarity and details
I think I actually prefer this to v137/v51 with counter
I did a quick testing last night after getting home need more test
Anyone else play with this new combo?
Thanks

uploaded counter v16 and play v139, for some reason the counter makes a difference, something about giving space to the instruments. Small code change based on 138 which improves things.

Counter introduced twice the amout of interrupts which I think affected the bass, so have managed to cut those in half. Was wondering if it was the increased interrupts that was increasing the detail, but now I've removed half, the detail is still there and the bass is improved.

Just need to check the alignment and that will be that.

Anyone have any thoughts on John Swenson saying a dac sounds better after 1.5 days continuous play ? Glad I'm not chasing that particular dragon.

I try v139/v16 play/counter first thing that combination doesn't work with control v52 no problem with v51 it works
With that v51/v139/16 there isn't much improvement over v138/v52 if there is any sorry to say that
I still think that v139/v52 is better unless control v52 will get fix to work with v139/v16
Gordon can you confirm that or maybe I did something wrong?
Thank you

yes, use with control v51.

Had a go at further optimisation and uploaded counter v18, play v140

Notice I have to turn the volume up a bit with this version, don't know if that's due to noise reduction or a step in the wrong direction, shall see if I get used to it.

Sorry I was a little ahead posting it
Yes v51 works perfect with v140/v18
I haven't notice volume going up but I did notice slight better separation
Thanks

After some short tests last night I went back to v138/v52
I think control v52 has something that make that combo a little better sounding, with little better separation, bass
Thanks Gordon
Anyone have test those last versions?

Hello Gordon, hello Elaprince,

sorry, but in my setup - and for my ears and perception - the order is different:

control v51/counter v18/play v140 > control 51/counter v17/play 139 > control v52/play v138

Why?- Tighter bass, better differentiation. Live recordings have a better stage....

But this is not headphone :-)

cheers,
Markus
