Had a look online but it is a minefield out there. Anybody using an app they can recommend I have finally decided to take the leap and see can I make it work from the comfort of a seat. Fergus don't rush in with the answer give some of the other computer heads a chance for a change.

To act as a remote screen to the laptop i.e control any laptop program as if your are running it on the tablet (only good for tablet use) - Splashtop - probably others too?
To remotely control Foobar/Jriver/iTunes, there are a number of programs - is this what you want it for?
Fergus, how am I doing? Have I passed? :)

Epic fail as my daughter would say! Samsung galaxy phone should have put that in the subject sorry about that. Don't have a tablet yet but will have to work on sneaking one in to the house on the basis of tech progress to help the kids with de edumacation
I am a bit dubious about how easy and comfortable it will be using an app on a phone to navigate around a laptop.

I had
http://www.remotedroid.net/ for a while and it worked fine. I only removed as I had absolutely no use for it whatsoever.
It essentially turns your phone into a mouse/touchpad.

Thanks Ivor will try that one out. Maybe I said this already but reckon tablet will be the ultimate answer for ease of use.
