I haven't had the time to load it & listen - maybe others will, you know who I mean ?:)

I dont think I will get the time for awhile. Will it work on windows or is it ubuntu or some unix operating system?
Are we not too committed to the jplay route? You cant be sending us off in another direction think of the costs

Like all these OS, it can be put on the same PC as Windows & use a dual boot option when the PC starts - in other words an option is given at PC startup, which OS to boot into.
Ah, I know Jplay is the gold standard for sound but they don't do a Linux/unix version & I wondered how this would fair in comparison to Jplay? There are some people that are dedicated Linux users so this might be interesting to them to try?

My son is an ubuntu fan so we have the dual boot on a crappy vista machine.Dont know if I want to risk it on a good laptop. It would disappear and be used for non music stuff! I will give it a go at some point but not now too busy laying blocks to raise the quads to suit Fran and yourself!

Ah, yes, those blocks are the secret - it was all Fran's idea, not mine :)

Unfortunately yes.I will be dropping the sub back over to you as soon as you get back. The only thing that passed was the wooden rack. The rest will have to be scrapped and start again.Haven't the heart to tell the wife.BTW %$££% shows a fair bit of promise

I have the distribution downloading as I type. I did try to install that linux compliant hiface driver before and got absolutely nowhere. So I wouldn't hold out too much hope!!

I got it installed last night, I have sound coming from the motherboard outputs (the headphone jack on the back) but I can't get my el cheapo usb-spdif converter to work. It's a pcm2707 based one so it should be ok. Need to do some testing and reading.
Anyone have any suggestions fire away!
Fran
