Streaming Multiroom Suggestions with HT

So my sister is currently rewiring her house and has asked for advice on music streaming and HT...

I'm largely ignorant in this area beyond my own cobbled together streaming solutions based around apple airplay
(a Zeppelin air, an airport express connected to my av amp, another connected to my hifi, and my MacBook connected to my hifi)

she's more in line for convenience than audiophile solutions, and won't be spending sooloos money!!!

I had thought perhaps the marantz nr line to perform av amp and streaming duties for one and two rooms, but what about other options?

is sonos worth researching?

5,1 isn't an absolute requirement....

ps I am aware of issues in our house using the wifi for audio and netflix so a solution that operates on a dedicated wifi network might be good (but does that preclude you from using android/iPhone as a remote without connecting them to the dedicated wifi? I'd have thought so, and that's why I've never tried it at home! )
