Got the 3m paper from Adam in the post this morning.Until the weekend I will have 7 sheets to play with! 6 x5100S and 1 x5100.
The advice seems to put it under the mobo and around the ram.
Any reason why under the mobo is it because the people doing that have their amp under their audio PC?
I will end up with 2 sheets so want to make the best use of it. Can people post their findings?

Tony
I understood from users on the JPlay forum, that unless the audioPC is put on the floor, the AudioPC is sensitive to RFI coming in from the bottom.
Apparently there is a lot of RFI originating from low lying sources.
Mobiles, Wifi access points, etc?
Cheers
Aleg

First place to start is main line breaker and the dedicated lines breakers. In case that you don't have a dedicated line, then on top of the breaker where is your system connected.
Just use the tape in the black side of the sheets.
I believe that using under the MoBo is to absorb the back reflections from the (usually) aluminum bottom, to stop EMI from bouncing back. Your grounded component box is acting like a shield, nothing in-nothing out (in the perfect world). 3M sheets are more like a sponge.

Ok stuck it under the pc and on top of the mobo. Other sheets stuck on top of the maplins and one on my disk drive. Sorry lads will do my best to pull it off before saturday.
It might just be a good night maybe the wine but noise floor seems much lower. I have had to turn down the volume.
Tried some of my screechy favourites and the russian totty track from Fran(sibilance is still there) but they all sound very nice.
Feels like I have just bought a good upgrade but maybe I am just dreaming

Find them the best position you can, listen for a while, then take them all out.
Gremlins will be happy! ;-)

i got a couple of these few weeks back, only downside seems to be the price
found most benefit under mobo and removing ram heatsinks and sticking on there too
double layers often seem twice as effective sq wise (no im not a reseller)
im going to try some of the new ones, around the transformers in my pc powersupply, amp and the fusebox

I think I am missing something here. When I read the post title, EMI RFI Paper, I thought that someone had published an authoritative document on EMI and that a link would be provided in the post.
So can somebody please enlighten me on what EMI RFI Paper is?

Haven't quiet got to the point of writing authoritative papers yet Tom!
If going to Fran's tomorrow you will see some of this stuff in the flesh.s
It refers to EMI and RFI Electro Magnetic inteference and Radio Frequency interference.
This paper claims to sponge up this or block it from interfering with 'our delicate' digital products.
Sima66(Adam) has convinced us poor paddies that it is magic. He has it everywhere. We are exploring it and putting the little bit purchased were we hope it has the best effect!
You being a power man might be interested?

Thanks guys! Yes Tony, I will be in Frans on Saturday. Am I right in concluding that 'wrapping' components in this paper will improve the sound? Like a Faraday cage? Or have I got this all wrong too......
