Hi guys , had sent my sisters amp to be repaired and they came back with the result that the amp went to protection mode due to a faulty centre speaker , the speaker in question is one from a Jamo 5.1 A102 set . i cant see any obvious damage to it and the wires to it are perfect , this is the second time its happened , the amp will play fine for a day or two then switch off , surely if there was an issue with the speaker or cable connection it would trip immediately ?

Its a Marantz NR1404

Anyone shed any light ? ..Tks

Have you tried it with a different speaker?

Hi No , gonna try one tomorrow , just thought it odd that a Centre speaker would become damaged and short circuit the amp when its been playing for a few days ..Cheers

It is odd. I'd try different cable first.... often a stray strand causes a short.

Logic:

test with another speaker of any kind to see if its the speaker or the amp

could be a bad component in the crossover for the centre speaker?
