Wouldn't miss it!

(Did anyone hear his interview with Miriam O'Callaghan yesterday morning? Car crash stuff - she clearly had never heard of him before. At one point she asked him did he think she should play Tom Jones' version or his own version of, 'You Can Leave Your Hat On'? Talk about insulting a master crafstman!)

I was thinking of Pat Kenny (any relation?) when he interviewed Noel Gallagher of Oasis. The usual banal bland questions about Noel's Irish heritage - it's obligatory that we discuss this on national TV - and at the end, as the audience applauded, Pat leaned over and said "that was cool man". My toes didn't uncurl for 2 weeks.
Vinyl - anything else is data storage.

In the 1980s I got an LP of Randy Newman. While it was well recorded [and highly reviewed in the UK hi-fi press], his singing voice irritated me. And it still does! I know that I am out on a limb here in holding this opinion but I could never quite see what all the [Randy Newman] fuss was about.

To those who plan to go to the concert, I hope you have a great night and I look forward to reading about it here. I will not be going.
It's OK, if there is no bread I will eat cake.

No relation - I think he came from the Pinnochio side of the family tree, he's so wooden

In fairness to Randy Newman he made his reputation initially as a songwriter, not a performer. People like Dusty Springfield, Nina Simone, Joe Cocker, Blood Sweat & Tears, Peggy Lee and many others recorded versions of his songs that are better known than his own. I suppose there's no getting around the fact that you don't like his voice but that apart, there's a lot of great sounding music on his albums. (The DVD-A surround-mix of Little Criminals is worth seeking out - it's stunning, especialy songs like Baltimore and Jolly Coppers on Parade)

Saw him in the eighties when I really was into him. Not so keen on his recent material and he will be solo at the piano I imagine. I would like a band or small orchestra behind him. Quite funny with the small talk and his songs are so un pc I'm surprised he got away with so much. lets burn down the cornfield for example. That song would send shivers down your back.
