Ceiling mounted speakers

Hi,
I'm a complete newbie to the whole speaker systems and badly need some help!
When my house was built, the electrician left wires for speakers hanging from the ceiling at four points in my sitting room. The other ends of these wires is on the wall behind TV. I am finishing the room now and would love to install speakers if I can do it with little hassle. Otherwise, I'll cut off the lines and paint over it!
I know I probably sound like an idiot but I would love some help!

Hi, Real just a process of elimination to figure out which cable is which. Not sure what you have more detail might help.
Your electrician has just run two cables from each point to one central point. One cable will be for left channel the other for right.
If you have speakers and amp/tuner/cd player connect a cable to the amp and get sound. i.e connect speaker at the ceiling.
Logic of this is just to prove they work and to mark them up. Get out to one of the hifi shops and ask them to show you ceiling speaker systems and the types of units they sell. I am sure it goes from a few hundred to whatever you want to spend.
