Looking for power amp capsble 300w into 4ohm
Hi guys, am trying to power a set of dynaudio bm15 passive monitors, seems they need alot of power. Currently using linn 2250 power amp but seems too light. Anything out there?
Re: Looking for power amp capsble 300w into 4ohm
I have a pair of aiyima A07 max monoblocks you could borrow to try....they have the small power suplies 36v that you could upgrade to 48v for more power but even with this they should have enough.

Hi there, thanks for reply. Am looking for a big analogue stereo power amp tbh. Am playing vinyl as source through the dynaudios.
Re: Looking for power amp capsble 300w into 4ohm
The Linn is already giving 230W into 4…so are you sure going up to 300w will produce the boost?
If price is a major consideration, you might consider importing a power amp from eBay etc, I noticed a Darthzeal clone for about 400 quid. Not sure about warranty or sound quality, but might be worth a punt? I think it was about 400w?
Alternatively…
Parasound are a very good quality manufacturer, there may be a few A21’s or John Curl JC1’s knocking about with Cloney’s? I think there was a few Classe power amps / mono blocks in there recently, they might still be around?
TBH I’m not really into power specs, more into how much do I like / don’t like the sound and the synergy between components.

Cheers for that. Will check ebay and cloney. Just feels like the linn runs out of power at medium/high levels. Forums on the Dynaudios suggest they need loads of power to give their best.
Re: Looking for power amp capsble 300w into 4ohm
300W is an insane amount of power and voltage swing for the home setting.
I wonder if you would bet better getting a listen to something like a class A amp with much lower wattage? Just something to consider.

Do or do not, there is no try

Just to confuse your ideas more I will add another suggestion ;-)
The Dynaudio are pro speakers and are probably built with the idea of being driven by pro amps. Pro amps are not simply powerful but the have a very solid power supply section, able to give loads of current in any condition. Your Linn simply doesn't have it, but I think that is the key, rather than a brutal output power. I see on forums happy owners use Hafler and Manley power amps, not far away from the power of your linn, but with a very different power supply (and both with pro chromosomes inside their chassis).
Best

Re: Looking for power amp capsble 300w into 4ohm
I sincerely doubt full 300W is required unless you're pushing them to their limits (100+ db listening levels, huge room), but try get some second hand Crown amp maybe, thats usually lots of power and quite neutral sound. But if they sound light with Linn at low to medium listening level, then its not the power you need, but better synergy or speaker placement.
